Wet Scrubbers
Wet Scrubbing Solutions for Challenging Emission Streams
EIS wet scrubbers provide proven, effective control of acid gases, ammonia and particulate-laden exhaust streams using liquid-phase mass transfer technology. By bringing contaminated gas streams into direct contact with scrubbing liquor, wet scrubbers achieve high removal efficiencies for both gaseous contaminants and solid particles, making them ideal for applications where other emission control technologies may be unsuitable.
The technology offers exceptional versatility, with systems easily tailored to specific applications through the selection of appropriate scrubbing liquors and chemical reagents.
By “mineralizing” contaminants through chemical reaction with specially selected reagents, wet scrubbers convert harmful emissions into stable, manageable compounds that can be safely disposed of or recovered. This makes wet scrubbing an environmentally sound solution for some of industry’s most challenging emission control requirements.

Venturi Systems
Venturi systems are co-current scrubbers that accelerate the gas stream into a high-density liquor spray. This process enables efficient removal of solids and gaseous contaminants through impingement and mass transfer.
How It Works:
The gas stream is accelerated into a high-velocity spray of scrubbing liquid.
–
Aqueous droplets impinge with solids in the gas stream, forming conglomerated particles.
–
The particles are separated from the gas stream in a disengagement tower using inertial forces.
Key Features:
Particulate Removal: Effective for streams with solids that might foul other equipment.
–
Mass Transfer: Provides reasonable absorption of gaseous contaminants.
–
Versatility: Ideal for handling challenging emissions with high particulate loads.
Packed Towers
Packed towers are counter-current scrubbers that use high-surface-area media to maximize contact between the gas stream and scrubbing liquid. This design ensures high-efficiency mass transfer for the removal of gaseous contaminants.
How It Works:
The gas stream flows upward through a packed bed of high-surface-area media.
–
Scrubbing liquid flows downward, creating a contact zone for mass transfer.
–
Gaseous contaminants are absorbed into the liquid, achieving removal efficiencies of >99.9%.
Key Features:
High Removal Efficiency: Achieves >99.9% removal of gaseous contaminants.
–
Customizable Media: Tailored to specific gas stream characteristics and scrubbing requirements.
–
Counter-Current Design: Maximizes contact time for optimal performance.
